Order of Malta Inaugural Asia Pacific Summer Camp for Disabled Youth
“How many disabled and suffering persons open their hearts to life again as soon as they realise they are loved! How much love can well up in a heart simply with a smile!” – Pope Francis
The Order of Malta (Singapore) will be organising its inaugural Asia Pacific Summer Camp for Disabled Youth, fuelled by the consistent success of similar camps organised across Europe by the order.
Date: 8-11 June 2017
Venue: Singapore Sports School
What’s the camp about?
Through a delightful integration of games, workshops, excursions, fun-filled activities, disco nights, and prayer, participants will enjoy the care and support of volunteers and members of the Order of Malta, and celebrate the wonder and magnanimity of God’s love. This special camp is a fun and blessed opportunity for our disabled youths to be part of a larger community of love, friendship, and emotional support.
Who can join?
Disabled youths between the ages of 18-35 (subject to a medical team review). As we have a restricted number of vacancies it will be based on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Each Guest needs to be accompanied by a caregiver of the same gender; if the Guest has no caregiver, we will provide one, wherever possible.
Who can volunteer?
We welcome youths between the ages of 18-35 eager to help us bring fun, laughter, and friendship to our disabled Guests. Volunteers will be subject to a selection criteria which will include a background check for security and suitability purposes.
Guest participant: $100
Volunteer: No fees, but donations are most welcomed! 🙂
