Malteser International Field Trip
A few weeks ago, delegates from several national associations, including Singapore, embarked on a field trip to better understand and appreciate the efforts of Malteser International on the ground.
In Manila, the delegation visited the works of the Philippines Association and was given an insight into the works and mission of Malteser International. We met and interacted with the ladies from impoverished families who roam the streets every day in search of plastic bottles. These bottles are collected, cleaned and sold. The hard-earned money is used to supplement household expenses. This is one of many MI projects in the Philippines.
In Thailand, the delegation visited health facilities, the soap production initiative and WASH facilities. The team then traveled towards the border of Thailand and Myanmar to visit the refugee camp. In all, the Field Trip was a deeply meaningful experience for the delegates, and a great inspiration for members of the Order to do more for the poor and the sick.
